For example, a source can be the birth records from Berlin, Germany from the years 1800 to 1850. If someone uses that source to find information about a specific person in their family tree, it's currently stored in their GEDCOM file associated with their PHPGedView site. What our site will do is allow people to upload their PHPGedView files and parse out all of the source information. It will then allow people to query the database. For example if someone wants birth records from Berlin, Germany from the year 1837, it will provide all of the sources that's currently in the database where that information can be found. It's basically a central repository that can be used to find genealogical information much easier.

The database we are working on will hold information about a specific source that will hold multiple records.
